Windows Connections

Under Windows auto detection of your Windows computer in FMTouch is not enabled by default. It requires the Apple component called Bonjour to be installed, it is sometimes installed with FileMaker and you will be warned if it isn't installed when you start FileMaker with the FMTouch sync plugin. You can either install Bonjour for auto detection or continue below with a manual connection.

Bonjour Auto-Detection Connection

  • Make sure to install Bonjour for Windows
  • Restart FileMaker completely, the plugin should not warn you about Bonjour this time
  • At this time you will hopefully see the computer name on FMTouch
  • Tap the computer name on FMTouch and see if a connection is made
  • Make sure your firewall is off in Windows if you are running into problems
  • If things still fail, please use the manual connection option below

Manual Connection

You can bypass the auto detection by using the manual connection connection option. Make sure to first turn off your Firewall. Next find the IP address of your computer by going to the FileMaker Pro "Preferences" screen, then choosing Plugins, and selecting "FMTouch Sync" from the plugins list. In the plugin description you will see your current IP address listed.
